A pickling acid management system must address the five key parameters that influence the pickling process—suspended solids, dissolved metal concentration, free acid concentration, agitation, and temperature. Understanding that acid recovery is only part of the equation, this paper outlines a comprehensive strategy for controlling the picking process. This “total system” approach includes acid filtration, circulation, and analysis equipment, working in conjunction with a recovery system.
