Description
Difficulties of uncoiling wire stock for feeding into a production machine are discussed in light of four significant changes in the operating parameters of uncoiling systems; larger coil weights, higher uncoiling speeds, higher feed rates, and higher emphasis of reduced labor and indirect costs. The ideal uncoiling system is delineated. Diagrammatic descriptions of four systems; vertical flipping, passive turntables, passive turntable w/ in-line wire drawer, and power assisted turntables, are evaluated with reference to the ideal system criteria.
