This paper presents an enhanced rolling ring winding system that employs sensor technology to insure smooth, even spooling across the core with no material build-up or valleys at the spool flanges. A flange sensing system adjusts reversal for distorted flanges or poor quality spools, reducing operator error, improving winding accuracy, and saving time. An available moving spool system keeps materials on center line through the take-up, eliminating lateral stress at the flange reversal.
