This paper discusses the results of a number of trials on wire rod for prestressing concrete made as per the following cycle: continuous casting, rolling followed by controlled cooling, and direct drawing. Advantages of the above method, provided care is taken to keep central segregation of the wire rod under close control are cited in the production of high carbon PC wire.
