The available wire galvanizing literature is briefly reviewed with a focus on the influence of the silicon content on the galvanized coatings. Some results of designed experiments done at Companhia Siderurgica Belgo-Mineira galvanizing plants are presented. The silicon influence is evaluated for the aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR) coated wires.
