The bonded-jacket, sealed-seam, moisture-barrier, sheath is comparatively studied to lead for resistance to moisture. Copolymer-coated aluminum has been extensively evaluated with regard to mechanical, and electrical properties. Advantages over lead sheath in weight, flexibility and economics are also discussed.
