A design trend in the manufacture of electronic equipment using welded steel wire chassis to contain all power supply components is introduced. Comparisons with conventional solid metal enclosures in cost, weight, assembly time, and servicing are shown. Combinations with perforated metal, have eliminated electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding problems. Six large manufacturers of electronic equipment, adopting the concept are shown.
