This paper deals with improvement work on copper rod production for magnet wire application. In this work, attention has been given to microstructural control during casting and hot rolling. It has been observed that copper rod with fine grain size can improve surface quality against crack susceptibility during wiredrawing, and this is highly desirable in the production of magnet wire.
