Oxygen protection in OFHC copper production in separate melting and casting furnaces with conducting launder is problematic, and deoxidization efficiency is low. RAFT – a new united melting and casting furnace – melts copper cathodes, removes oxygen and allows continuous upwards casting operation. Melt is purer and total energy efficiency is higher. No launder is required.
