Refrasil in the steel industry

$15.00

The use of the flexible silica refractory cloth Refrasil as insulating material in the steel industry is discussed. Reduction of energy consumption and maintenance costs in high temperature areas are reported. Uses include cable insulation, hose insulation, and furnace curtains (coating line oxidizing furnace, coating line reducing furnace, and slab reheating furnace). Refrasil tolerates continuous use at 1705~C; a specially treated variety tolerates continuous use at temperatures somewhat greater than 1095~C.
