Description

This paper deals with high-speed rod breakdown machinery for production of hard and annealed aluminum and aluminum alloy conductors for use in medium- and high-voltage power cables as well as overhead transmission lines. To meet increased demand in the Indian market and face the onslaught of competition, the production line needs to be properly designed with continuous take-ups—whether the wire needs to be on spools or in baskets. The paper also describes design features which are essential for achieving good wire quality and electrical performance of the conductors.
