Rod cooling solutions to wire opportunities

$15.00

In many cases limitations on steel wire properties can be reduced or entirely eliminated by optimization of the wire rod cooling process. The cooling rate is controlled by varying the following parameters: the laying head temperature, air fan flow, conveyor speed, and the closing or opening of covers along the conveyor. This paper describes the influence of these parameters on steel rod mechanical properties and then demonstrates different examples in which they have been used to attain enhanced wire properties.
