The mechanical process of scrap reclamation is discussed, and is concluded to be the cleanest and most efficient form of metal recovery. A step-by-step description of one such system is given. Capital expenditures and maintenance costs are considered. In plant scrap handling is discussed. It is predicted that scrap handling in the future will involve separation of various types of plastic coverings.
