Selection of operating parameters to prevent central bursting defects during cold-extrusion

$15.00

Results of an experimental investigation on cold extrusion of four heats of 1524 steel and a survey of central bursting occurrence in commercial cold extrusion and wiredrawing operations are given. Combinations of percent reduction of area and die semicone angle were tested based on the criterion derived by Zimerman and Avitzur to derive the correct forming sequences for preventing central burst formation.
