The use of the elongation test to assess ductility in hard drawn wire is discussed. Tests on the effect of gage length and diameter, the relationship of load to elongation, and the relationship of stress to elongation at the neck indicate what factors affect the elongation test. This test method is compared with torsion, bend, and wrap tests; results indicate a correlation between all test procedures.
