Slow cooling rods on Cuyahoga Plant’s No 1 mill

$15.00

The Spiracool process used for cooling steel rods at the Lorain-Cuyahoga Works of U.S. Steel Corp is described. Cooling rates below 0.56~C/second are achieved, and result in uniformly soft and ductile microstructures in low and medium-low carbon grades. The rod mill described represents a significant extension of the Stelmor process.
