It was concluded that the thick, high-tensile strength steel wire used for prestressed concrete strand can best be manufactured from high-tensile wire rod with fine pearlite structure. Deformation of cementite in pearlite by drawing, improvement in workability, improvement of hardenability, prevention of strain aging, and optimum drawing pass schedule are discussed.
