Description
A novel electrolytic phosphate process is being developed that reduces precipitate sludge and increases the coating deposition rate while yielding very uniform
coating weights and fine crystalline (Zn3(PO4)2×4H2O) structures. A DOE (design of experiments) approach was used to statistically analyze the effects of solution chemistry (zinc oxide, phosphoric acid, nitric acid) on coating weight, structure and appearance. These results will be reviewed.
