Description
Strand compaction has been widely used by the Wire Rope Industry over many years but at times it has been applied as an indiscriminate response to service life problems, rather than through selective targeting of particular rope performance requirements according to the rope application and in service conditions.
This paper aims to provide an in sight into the benefits that can come from strand compaction as well as recognising some downsides and thereby offers guidance on a more focused approach to applying strand compaction to help make the most effective use of the technology.
