This paper records the development of a system for medium- and high-voltage electrical cable plants that automates cable quality measurement and tracking and gives rapid feedback for enhanced process control. Improvements in the areas of operations, information technology and measurement included a better user interface, implementation of relational databases and the addition of a computer-based image acquisition and analysis system.
