Machine vision/image processing is the technology of the future for the wire and cable industry. It applies from non-contact dimensional inspection to surface defect inspection as well as inner jacket inspection. In many cases it replaces laser technology which has probably reached its limitations. Image processing offers at the present the greatest flexibility required by the industry to achieve 100 percent true and real-time inspection.
