The use of electrical resistance and induction heating has increased the rate of in-line annealing for copper, aluminum, and some steel alloys. An anneal-meter (recuimetre) which provides instantaneous information on the exact degree of softening is described. Metallurgical phenomena peculiar to rapid annealing, pilot testing of different metals and dimensions, and equipment in operation are discussed.
