Description
The American Society for Testing and Materials has sanctioned a group of standard methods for testing film insulated magnetic wire. Some 18 parameters are measured, including the resistance of film insulation to winding abuse that is simulated by a single unidirectional scrape with an increasing load. UTC Transformers has an independent procedure to simulate the wire treatment received during manufacturing. Twenty-four wires may be tested simultaneously. The test apparatus is described.
