A series of torsion tests were performed on various grades and sizes of rope wire to assess resistance to fatigue. Tests were performed on single strands of wire (including cage effect and tensile strength tests) and on coil wire. Tests involving twisting and untwisting of rope wire after being torsioned to fracture were also conducted.
