The control of austenitic grain size in steel rod by aluminum nitride and its influence on the properties of steel wire is discussed. The influence of rolling temperature and cooling on secondary structure, methods for direct patenting of rods, and the drawability and work hardening of direct patented rod are also considered. Test results are presented in graph form.
