The influence of chemical composition of steel on the physical properties and deformability of wire are discussed. The performance of high carbon steel wire containing low amounts of phosphorus and sulfur (0.005-0.025%) was studied. Test results for mechanical, bending, compressive, flat rolling, drawability and mechanical properties are presented.
