Research to determine the effects of pressure and temperature on dies and on the wire being drawn is described. Tests were performed on aluminum, brass, copper and steel wires drawn at various speeds with varying viscosities of lubricants. Coefficients of friction, die to wire metal pick up, and wire to die metal pick up are discussed.
