A series of tests using commercial round wire 1/2 to 1/16 inch in diameter were carried out to evaluate the factors influencing the heating of steel wire. The effects of time, temperature, wire size, steel condition, equipment used, and mode of heating used were studied. The results of these tests are presented and discussed.
