A comparative study of continuously cast copper rod from different sources was made; the Hoboken process (Contirod) was chosen as the best. Reasons for the selection of this process are listed. Test results are included. Results after six months of operation of a Contirod line at the Chauny plant of Thomson-Brandt are presented; die wear, drawability, and softness are considered.
