Ultrafine drawing of copper wire

$15.00

This paper will examine some of the theoretical and practical aspects of drawing ultrafine (44 AWG and finer) copper wire. Drawing machine type selection and controls will be examined, with emphasis on efficiency and drawing speed. Wire contact (drawing roll) material selection and methods of lubricant application will be reviewed. Ultrafine drawing lubricants will be examined, including the new, synthetic materials. Typical lubricant operating parameters and maintenance methods are detailed. Drawing die geometry and size control will be discussed in detail. The features of diameter control versus elongation control will be compared.
