Ultrasonic cleaning of high carbon prestressing strand to improve the bond development between concrete and steel

$15.00

A commercial prototype ultrasonic cleaning system contiguous with an induction stress relieving furnace is designed and developed in this study for application to high-carbon prestressing strand. The initial application to the cleaning of high-carbon ferrous alloys may be extended to other types of ferrous wire products. The effectiveness of the ultrasonic cleaning unit to remove contaminants, particularly calcium stearate glaze, is tested.
