An unfilled polyethylene compound for weather resistant insulation developed by Union Carbide Plastics Co, is described. Applications, properties, extrusion, and vulcanization are discussed. HFDB-4202 exhibits the electrical properties, moisture resistance, oxidation stability, and weather resistance of polyethylene with the non-melting, non-stress-cracking characteristics of rubber.
