The advantages of using nickel-covered steel for use in off-shore wells because of its resistance to corrosion caused by chloride in ocean spray are outlined. The results of a 240 hour salt spray test with a 5 percent salt solution at a temperature of 230F are given. Briefly discussed are product strength, corrosion properties, cost, electrochemical application, and field use savings.
