The objectives of this paper are to assist with a general understanding of basic reasons for using welding to join metals; knowledge of the more common welding processes, especially those using filler metals; information regarding welding growth results and what can be expected in the 1980’s and identification of what welding can contribute to improve productivity in our economy.
