Welding in the wire industry

$15.00

Experiments are described in which an attempt was made to produce a wire weld of quality high enough to be left in the finished product. Flash butt welds and solid phase pressure welds were performed under a variety of conditions, then subjected to wrap testing; neither proved to be satisfactory. It is suggested that the answer may be in resistance butt welding. Other tests were carried out on the welding of finished rope prior to spooling and stranding.
