Recent requirements, such as Fastener Quality Act, have emphasized the need for improved product quality in the wire and rod industry. Batch systems, using proper equipment design and process controls, offer an economically acceptable method of satisfying the industry quality needs. This paper discusses options for improving performance of batch annealing systems by using new designs of the base, the furnace and the controls offered by Lee Wilson and the operating experience of such systems.
