Description
Various materials are used in electrical resistance heating: metallic, ceramic-metal, and graphite. Common are nickel-chrome, iron-chrome-aluminum, tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, platinum, and platinum-rhodium alloys. These are categorized into materials which work in oxygen atmospheres and those that must be protected from oxygen like tungsten, molybdenum, and tantalum. This paper concentrates on common nickel-chrome and iron-chrome-aluminum materials.
