Wire decarburization during spheroidizing treatment

$15.00

Decarburization is a problem that affects spheroidized wire quality and consequently the final product quality, mainly in the case of bolts. This superficial carbon loss does not happen only in the spheroidizing phase; it can be generated in other preceeding phases, for example, the billet reheating phase before rolling wire rod. At Belgo Mineira, the objective is to evaluate the decarburization only in the spheroidizing treatment. Some conclusions can be used in corrective actions in preceding phases.
