The use of logarithmic strain ratio (log SR) calculations as an alternative to percentage reduction-in-area (RA %) calculations is described. Application of the system to nonferrous and ferrous metal wires, the steps involved, tensile strength increases, die pull factor, and application of log SR ratios to tube drawing are discussed.
