Description

The development of today’s alternative technologies in wire enamelling – such as the use of hot-melts and water-soluble enamels – can be traced back to the oil shock in the early 70s. Born out of the search for a cheap replacement of the expensive solvents, it is nowadays their ecological impact which keeps the discussion going. There have been several reasons, however, why these alternative processes could hardly prevail: on the one hand, the decline of oil prices and availability of relatively low-cost solvents, and on the other hand, the lack of profitableness together with a restricted range of application.
