Description
Close tolerance control can only be achieved when manufacturing springs if the wire from which they are made is of high quality. The veracity of this premise is accepted by the wire supply and spring manufacturing industries, but there is not universal agreement about the wire quality parameters that constitute the definition of high quality. For this reason SRAMA have carried out a systematic study of the effect of carbon steel wire quality on the manufacturing tolerances of compression springs. This study was commissioned by 31 European spring manufacturers.
