A series of tests were conducted on 20 types of steel wire at a temperature range of -60 to 70~F. Results are reported for tensile strength, elongation, reduction of area, bending, and torsion strength. Low temperature bend and torsion tests are recommended for wire that will be woven into rope for use in applications likely to involve these types of stress.
