Die drafting, a technique used to minimize slip and wear on capstans, is described. Tables are included which show the rate of each capstan in surface feet per minute, the relationship between the area reduction and speed, methods for reducing speed, and a tenth-gage reduction chart. Examples of the application of these tables in day-to-day production problems are presented.
