The application of x-ray diffraction methods to the field of wire production is discussed. X-ray diffraction patterns which indicategrain distribution and grain distortion are presented. Such patterns can predict the behavior of a particular material during the drawing process, allowing recommendations with regard to the proper mechanical and heat treatment to be made.
