High speed extrusion of thin walled insulated conductors demands high consistency and tight tolerances of the stranded conductors. Using SPC helped reaching results considered at the moment to be above industry standards. First, an analysis of the process identified the main parameters which affect the final product and a computer program was developed to assist in defining the process parameters based on the desired geometry of the conductor. Sophisticated automatic material handling system based on custom designed software became the core around which all the machinery is placed.
