An improved calibration method for the preform of drawn sections was developed by analyzing and comparing industrially used sections. Based on Preussler, this method enables the calibration of sections with webs and reflex angles, respectively. A comparison with conventionally designed preforms regarding section form and dimensions as well as material properties verifies the new method and characterizes the product quality that can be obtained.
