The effects of brass parameters and surface condition of tire cord wire on the adhesion of vulcanized rubber are examined. Possibilities and limitations of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study, the adhesion mechanism, effects of brass surface composition, reactivity of brass surfaces, and factors that affect the surface composition of brass-plated cord are discussed.
