The use of blowing agent concentrates in the manufacture of telecommunications cable is discussed. Experience and improvements made to the process in the past four years are reviewed. The development of a concentrate which contains the required blowing agent and the correct amount of pigment has been a primary goal. The manufacture of blowing agent/color concentrate, choice of resin, practical aspects of concentrate use, and the history of the process are discussed.
