Description
Ramifications of improper twist control during steel tire cord manufacture include snarling and bunching of cable during payoff in the creel room, trapped ends in the spool during payoff, and unacceptable tip rise and sheet curling during the cutting operation. This paper uses a plain stress-plain strain model to describe the stress state of filament and the resulting changes as material is subjected to constant stress. The same model is used to describe the effect of different applied stresses on the strain state of filament.
