Several corrosion-testing methods including rest potential and AC impedance methods have been developed. Considering the coupling nature of the tire steel cord, a comprehensive evaluation of each method will be discussed. It is concluded that rest potential measurement provides valid information to describe galvanostatic corrosion of tire steel cord, while AC-impedance method is unique to detect composite corrosion.
